FROM THE STONE OF THE DUOMO TO CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE

Previewed at Cersaie 2025 and awarded the ADI Ceramics & Bathroom Design Award 2025 – Best Ceramic Product, Milano Sublime represents one of the most significant material research projects in Coem’s history.
Developed in collaboration with the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano, the collection interprets Candoglia marble – the stone used for centuries in the construction and restoration of the Cathedral – translating its identity, chromatic nuances and depth into porcelain stoneware surfaces.
A unique material, historically destined for a single masterpiece, is now made available to architectural design, while preserving its symbolic value.

FROM THE STONE THAT BUILT THE DUOMO TO THE STREETS THAT REFLECT ITS SPIRIT, MILANO SUBLIME TELLS THE STORY OF A MATERIAL THAT CONTINUES TO LIVE THROUGH THE CITY.
FROM ICONIC ARCHITECTURE TO LIVED-IN SPACES, FROM LARGE SURFACES TO THE MOST INTIMATE DETAILS: THE PROJECT MOVES BETWEEN MONUMENTALITY AND EVERYDAY LIFE. EVERY SPACE BECOMES A FRAGMENT OF THE CITY, A BALANCE BETWEEN LIGHT AND MATERIAL, BETWEEN MEMORY AND CONTEMPORANEITY.
MILANO SUBLIME BECOMES A VISUAL JOURNEY THROUGH SPACES THAT SPEAK OF MEASURED ELEGANCE, CRAFTSMANSHIP AND CULTURE, WHERE SURFACES BECOME THE WITNESSES OF A RENEWED HERITAGE, CAPABLE OF DIALOGUING WITH THOSE WHO DESIGN AND LOVE MILAN.

THE HIDDEN THREAD
A STORY TOLD THROUGH IMAGES
The Hidden Thread is an editorial project born from Coem’s approach to observing and listening to material – understood as a layering of time, gesture and meaning – and from the desire to explore the places that generate and preserve it. At its heart lies Candoglia marble: a symbolic material that continues to live today through an ongoing process of transformation.
MATERIAL IN TRANSFORMATION
FROM ITS ORIGIN TO ITS EVOLUTION
The photographic narrative, created by Mattia Bianco and curated by Ikos | Architettura della comunicazione, unfolds as a journey: from the quarry to the stonemasons’ workshop, from the archive to the Duomo, and finally to Coem’s production spaces. Different worlds connected by the shared principle of shaping material while respecting its origin.
The images alternate between documentation and interpretation, building a narrative made of connections, details and visions. Within this journey, the Milano Sublime ceramic surface emerges as a contemporary interpretation of a living heritage, capable of evolving over time.
