Porcelain stoneware floor tiles open to every experience

The best techniques and aesthetics combine together in Coem’s porcelain stoneware floor tiles.

In gres ++, Coem’s porcelain stoneware technique, the full-body colouring, obtained from the best raw materials, makes it possible to create a material in perfect harmony with the surface, able to bring out the aesthetic qualities, lending a more intense coloration. An innovative production system makes it possible to produce floorings in gres ++ with an excellent high definition design, resistant to wear and chemical agents, and easily cleaned, making them suitable, therefore, for exposed environments with a high level of external stresses. Cutting-edge plant and machinery produce a highly sintered material with very low levels of absorption and which are totally fireproof: respect of the environment underpins everything, with a rational use of resources and a reduction in energy consumption. The excellent mechanical performances of the floorings in gres ++ by Coem are the result of a forming and compacting system obtained with very high levels of dry pressing: this produces a highly technical porcelain stoneware that embodies the most resistant characteristics that ceramic technologies have so far achieved.

Coem’s glazed porcelain stoneware, on the other hand, arises from the wish to create products with aesthetic quality and excellent colourings, using prestigious glazes applied on the support thanks to a sophisticated technology. This glazed porcelain stoneware guarantees inalterability and durability with glazes sintered at  1200° to offer high resistance to stresses, enriching, at the same time, residential environments thanks to the elevated aesthetic qualities and the vast range of colours, forms and decorations.

Resistant to every type of external stress

Compared to natural materials, porcelain stoneware is perfectly resistant to knocks, abrasions and wear, without damage or deterioration.

The partially vitreous structure and the compactness of the support make it particularly hard and resistant. These characteristics are regulated by international standards that make it possible to define objectively comparable scales of values, certifying the main features.

Thanks to the technical characteristics of safety and resistance, porcelain stoneware can be used in any part of the house or also in contexts intended for heavy traffic such as shopping centres, airports, museums and other large architectural structures used by the public.

Fireproof

Porcelain stoneware is not a combustible material, and is therefore very safe.

It does not emit toxic smoke or gases and can inhibit the flames, reducing, within certain limits, the damage caused by fires.

Easily cleaned

With porcelain stoneware it’s easy to remove dirt and dust deposited on the surface, guaranteeing the necessary hygienic conditions in any environment. The high level of cleanability comes from its characteristics of compactness, impermeability and resistance to stains.

For this reason, porcelain stoneware is particularly suitable also in public contexts, such as schools, hospitals, swimming pools, wellness centres and spas.

Resistance to heat

Thanks to its composition, porcelain stoneware perfectly resists heat and high temperatures.

Contact with hot pans or free flames does not damage the surface in any way, as opposed to other natural or industrially made materials.

Impermeable, with no fear of stains

Porcelain stoneware is a ceramic material with a compact, coloured, hard and non-porous body, making it exceptionally resistant and impermeable.

The surface is perfectly cleanable with normal detergents without the need for particular solvents and is resistant to any stain, also the most obstinate, such as oil, coffee and wine stains which can occur in the kitchen, or other stains caused by perfumes, creams and solvents used in the bathroom.

Frostproof

Porcelain stoneware is composed of a coloured body fired in the kiln at extremely high temperatures (1200-1400 C°).

This process makes it possible to achieve a state of vitrification that guarantees impermeability, with very low levels of water absorption, which lead to its non-porosity and therefore excellent resistance to low temperatures and frost.

This characteristic also produces high resistance to bending, as confirmed by the maximum stress that the material, subjected to a growing bending force, can tolerate before breaking.

Always brilliant colours and textures

The colours and finishings of porcelain stoneware remain stable over time and are not affected by use and daily cleaning and maintenance operations.

Exposure to the sun, atmospheric agents and smog do not alter at all the look of the surface over time. The delicate tonal variations of surface material effects, such as stone, marble or wood, maintain over the years a harmony of contrasts and shadings perfectly calibrated and rarely found in nature.

Ecological

Porcelain stoneware is produced with sophisticated production processes that respect the environment.

It has no waterproofing chemicals, paints or resins; it does not emit fumes also in the presence of flames or heat and does not release radioactive gases.

It’s an inert material, in the sense that its composition prevents any emission of substances harmful for health.  In addition, in contrast to other surfaces, it does not retain dusts, pollens or germs, minimizing health risks if properly cleaned.
